RED SCHOONER BY CAYMUS VOYAGE 7, MALBEC

$49.99

Some of the most successful wine empires have a signature style that can be felt across many of the wines they produce, and it can even transcend varietal and region.  Wagner Family’s Red Schooner Malbec embodies the Caymus signature style of exuberant, plump, beautifully ripe and supple wines that they’ve had nearly a half century to perfect. For this project, the family sources premium Malbec grapes from the base of the Andes Mountains of Argentina, and they transport them in super-chilled containers on an ocean voyage to Caymus winery in Napa Valley, where it’s pressed in their state-of-the-art winemaking facility.  The wine is supple, yet extravagant and it comes layered with crushed mulberries, ripe plum, freshly picked blackberries, dried violets and sweet spices.

Red Schooner Malbec delivers in grand fashion with everything you would expect from a Wagner Family wine, and it’s no surprise that it’s already developed a devoted following.  The wine was kept for around 15 months in French oak and the wine’s soft, velvety tannins support a tapestry of rich, dark berries, chocolate covered plums, savory spices and vanilla.  Fans of Emmolo Merlot or Caymus Cabernet, should absolutely try a case, while supplies last.

RED SCHOONER BY CAYMUS VOYAGE 7, MALBEC

Winery Notes: “This Malbec is made from grapes grown in the Andes Mountains, shipped chilled to Napa Valley and produced with the same techniques as our Caymus Cabernet. Falling outside standard labeling rules, it does not include a vintage date but is known by the voyage from which it traveled (Voyage 7 is the 2017 vintage). Offering scents of ripe plums and cherries, this wine is powerful and supple, with flavors of French oak and soft tannins.
