NV PIERRE MORLET “GRANDE RESERVE” CHAMPAGNE

$55.00

Looking closely at the Morlet family tree, it might begin to resemble a grape vine bearing a crop of some of the world’s most talented winemakers.  In 1992 Luc Morlet, whom you may recognize from Newton and Peter Michael fame, reinstated his grandfather’s use of partially aging the wines in demi-muids barrels, a style only used by Champagnes top houses.  Brother Nicolas Morlet, currently winemaker at Peter Michael… continued to fine-tune the winemaking techniques, and now the middle son Paulin Morlet oversees all vineyard and wine operations in Champagne.

Rich and irresistibly creamy on the palate, sprouting vivid expressions of roasted hazelnuts, fresh pastry crust, smoked apples, peaches and crushed walnuts, Pierre Morlet’s Grande Reserve is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and fashioned from both Premier Cru and Grand Cru Vineyards.
