Tasting Notes from Winemaker: “Very deep dark royal purple color. Classic Bordeaux style nose with tobacco leaf herb notes and dark brooding black berry aromas plus hints of cherry cream candies. Ideal amounts of subtle creamy oak barrel influences. Soft ripe plums, vanilla cream and loamy earth notes are complex and very inviting. Fresh but rich in the mouth (like so many wines of 2016), lithe and elegant mouth-feel leads to cranberry, minerals and dark cocoa flavors. Tannins are still youthful and acid balance portends well for cellar development; This is a bigger style of LATERAL to be en- joyed now and over a longer period of years” 67% Merlot | Cabernet Franc 33% (made with Organic Grapes)
Tasting Notes from Edward, “I humbly admit I still have a lot to learn about Bordeaux and French Wines… living in Napa Valley and California for the past 20-years, my God Bless the USA palate skews more towards Fruit-Forward Wines, and I love Big, Bold and Rich – the 2016 Lateral is the best of all Worlds: Old World Bordeaux Inspired Blend, yet crafted from New World Organic Fruit, and it’s just a perfect combination; especially for pairing with food. Apparently there is quite an Awesome Cult Following for this Napa Red, and just recently a VIP told me the Kathryn Kennedy 2014 Lateral was the best blend he has ever tasted in the $40-$50 range… he first tasted it at a restaurant. With no surprise, there are many Sommeliers, Foodies, and Restaurateurs that have been secretly sipping on this one for decades, and if you haven’t tried it yet, a case would be a great way to get to know this one, and for the many many fans, at least two cases are recommended while this New Release is available.
