Description
2018 MAROON RESERVE COOMBSVILLE CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Paul Maroon acquired 37 acres in Coombsville over 20 years ago, with 17 of those acres planted with Cabernet Sauvignon that he tended and sold to several of Napa Valley’s top wineries until 2009, when he decided to produce the first vintage of Maroon. Coombsville became an AVA in 2011 and has quickly established a reputation for delivering sophisticated wines with elegant structure due to the cooler climate in the southern end of the Valley.
Chris Corley has been the winemaker since the first vintage and worked with Paul for over 20 years, creating a symbiotic relationship built around the love of the land, the wines, and the commitment to quality. The exquisite 2018 vintage is an excellent expression of the Coombsville AVA terroir because of the mild season that allowed for slow ripening and complex flavor development that will continue to evolve for years to come.
Tasting Notes From Master Sommelier, “The Maroon Reserve Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is a powerful wine that begins with a nose of juicy blueberries, blackberry preserves, bittersweet chocolate, ground espresso, fresh violets, and wet stone. The energetic, focused palate has a beautiful blend of red plums, black currants, Asian spices, and vanilla. The long, luxurious finish leaves your palate wrapped in satiny decadence that goes on and on. Drink now through 2030.” KEVIN M. VOGT 94 POINTS
