Laird Jillian’s Blend is One of my Personal Favorites of All-Time, and our VIPs Agree over many Vintages!  If you are looking for a Proprietary Red Blend that easily compares to the Napa Upper Echelon at 2x-3x the price, you won’t want to miss this stunning LAIRD FAMILY NAPA VALLEY RED from the BLOCKBUSTER 2018 VINTAGE.

Coming from a family of tobacco farmers on the East coast, Ken Laird worked as a mechanical engineer in New York City before following his dream to return to farming. After purchasing a property in Napa Valley in 1970, Ken and his wife Gail cleared out the old, tired prune trees and began planting grapevines with the help of his mentor Robert Mondavi.

The Laird’s continued to purchase desirable plots throughout Napa and Carneros, recognizing each vineyard’s distinctive qualities and planting them with the right varietals to reach their fullest potential. The 2018 Jillian’s Blend combines 62% Cabernet Sauvignon with Syrah, Merlot, Malbec, and Petite Verdot, created from hand-selected fruit from the Laird’s most prized vineyards, offering a more complex and multi-layered wine than just one vineyard can convey.

Tasting Notes from Wine Spectator, “On the slightly rugged, old-school style of the spectrum, with a core of steeped red and black currant fruit backed by a burly structure and notes of chestnut, sage and bay leaf. Shows singed cedar and alder notes that thread up the finish, with nice latent energy. For fans of the gutsy style. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Best from 2024 through 2036.WINE SPECTATOR  93 POINTS

Tasting Notes from Vinous, “This shows some tension and form this year with blueberry, blackberry and walnut undertones to the ripe tannins. Medium body and a delicious finish…VINOUS 93 POINTS

Edward’s Notes: “Laird has consistently been one of my favorite wineries to take family and guests that were visiting us in Napa for the very first tasting. I always found myself also frequently visiting their tasting room, because their wines are so spot-on; I would establish a basepoint before venturing upon multiple tastings in the Valley, and then sometimes re-visit afterwards . Laird wines are THAT Good!! In a Single Word: Trustworthy. Quality plus Devotion combined with a deeply rooted Napa Valley Connection to the Earth – here’s a Family that literally owns/farms thousands upon thousands of Acres of Vines, Vineyards, PLUS run a world-class custom crush facility that hosts a plethora of Cult Wines that we can’t even mention here. They know the exact time to pick and harvest, and then crush it at optimum levels of Perfection. Quite frankly, any wine from Laird and EVERY Jillian’s Blend will always be one of my personal favorites… the 2018 Vintage is now becoming ultra-limited in the Valley and selling out fast. I truly don’t enjoy telling our highly treasured VIPS that a wine is now sold-out… (in other words, get some y’all asap) This 2018 Jillian’s Bordeaux Style Blend will age gracefully upwards of 8-15 years plus, and likely start it’s journey of peaking in 2025-2026. Although I can’t keep my hands off of it Right Now – absolutely delicious fruit from Cabs that are at least $85/pop, and this is amidst the Best Napa Valley Red Wines under 50 EVER my friends. *decant 6-8 hours for a decadent treat. **pairing recommendations: classic grilled Rib Eye with caramelized mushrooms and blue cheese crumble, and for vegetarians: stuffed portabella mushroom with creamed spinach and topped with a gruyere/gouda blend. Or just a bring a bottle to your favorite restaurant and enjoy with appetizers, bold cheeses, and great conversations! An Ace on the 18th hole, and amazing for patio sipping too. This Beautiful Blend is Inspirational on so many levels! Enjoy each moment! Cheers!!” CALIHIWINES 96+ POINTS

Tasting Notes from Laird Family Wines: “Our family has been proudly growing grapes in Napa Valley for two generations; this unique fusion of four varietals honors the third generation in our farming family, our daughter Jillian. This Left Bank Bordeaux-style blend with a twist of Rhone is structured and easy to drink…

This bodacious blend boasts a beautiful blushed red color that is followed by an alluring nose of tamarind, wood fire toasted marshmallow, marionberries and fresh ground espresso. The balanced palate showcases bright fruit qualities highlighted by plum, mountain blueberries and juniper. The tannic structure of the wine lingers on your palate and leaves lasting notes of cigar box and unsweetened cocoa. Structured enough to be laid down but elegant enough to be enjoyed. Drink 2024 through 2032.”

*VIP Heads-Up:  If I had a nickel for every VIP Client that asked me over the many moons, “Edward, Do you have any more Jillians Blend?”  ~ I’m humbling telling you that for the past decade plus, this gorgeous wine has been one of our most popular wines of all-time … Full Cases are Highly Recommended of this Spectacular Wine my friends while available, because there’s not much more of this 2018 Vintage Remaining in the Napa Valley and Beyond … ps: I got two Cases (very limited).

**The 2018 Grassi Cabernet is now sold-out, the 2018 Mascot is sold out, the 2019 Sinegal is sold-out, and the 2019 The Setting is gone too…  You won’t want to miss this 2018 Laird Jillian’s Red Wine under $50, it’s phenomenal.
