2018 HILL FAMILY NAPA VALLEY SAUVIGNON BLANC

$28.00

auvignon Blanc is the second most widely planted white wine grape in California, and for that reason our tasting panel faces a cascade of new Sauvignon Blancs each week at our tastings.  With as many as we taste throughout the year, our panel selects just a small handful of the best expressions of this varietal.  We look for Sauvignon Blancs that fuse an idyllic combination of complexity, focus, clarity and balance.  We recently found all of those qualities working in unison in a bottle of 2018 Hill Family Sauvignon Blanc.  After all, the wine was crafted by talented winemaker Alison Green Doran who worked under legendary winemaker Andre Tchelistcheff at her father’s Simi winery, and was also the winemaker at Lewis Cellars.  At this low price, I highly recommend you try it.

The 2018 was formed from three carefully chosen Sauvignon Blanc clones and a touch of Semillon.  The Sauvignon Blanc Musque Clone is revered for its intensely fragrant bouquet which is stunning in this wine.  Italian Clone and Clone One contributes depth and complexity, and the wine was then finished with a small amount of Semillon which contributes even more layers of expression and added richness.  If you’re searching for the perfect Sauvignon Blanc to share with your friends and family, this may very well be it…

Winery Notes: “The 2018 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc is loaded with aromas of orange blossom and elderflower. As it opens, pineapple and vanilla begin to unfold. A tangy melting texture on the palate with creamy tropical fruit and lemon pineapple flavors lead to a finish that is delicate and clean.”
