Cornerstone Cellars was established in 1991 by Michael Dragutsky, and has been crafting exceptional wines for over 30 years from some of California’s most distinctive vineyards. Planted in the Santa Rita Hills in 1996, the Fiddlestix Vineyard has played a significant role in advancing the AVA as a prominent winegrowing region due to its premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay fruit.

Winemaker Kari Auringer spent years as Cornerstone’s assistant winemaker, working with legendary winemaking consultant Celia Welch, who is responsible for crafting some of Napa’s most famous names, including Scarecrow, Keever, Kelly Fleming, and Corra before Kari became Cornerstone’s lead winemaker in 2014, and the wines have never been better.

The 2018 Fiddlestix Vineyard Pinot Noir is an equal blend of Dijon Clone 667 and Clone 777, aged in 55% New French oak, and is showing brilliantly after a few years in the bottle… If you are looking for the Perfect Wine for Thanksgiving and Entertaining, this is for you!

Tasting Notes from Wine Enthusiast, “Blistered cranberry, plump violets, anise, oak and vanilla show on the nose of this single-vineyard expression. The palate is brisk with black raspberry and more cranberry, also offering pinches of thyme, pepper and oak smoke.” WINE ENTHUSIAST 91 POINTS

Cornerstone Cellars Vineyard Notes… Fiddlestix Vineyard Pinot Noir:

Sta. Rita Hills, a small AVA nestled within Santa Barbara County is home to some of California’s best-loved Pinot Noirs. The fruit focused core, depth and complexity is attributed to the morning fog, sunny days and cooling coastal breezes. Much has been written about the Fiddlestix vineyard and wine industry veteran Kathy Joseph who had the vision to plant in the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills in Santa Barbara in 1996. Located on a sunny, southwest-facing hillside, across the road from the venerable Sanford and Benedict vineyard, the 100+ planted acres are primarily Dijon clone Pinot Noir…

2018 Cornerstone Cellars Fiddlestix Vineyard Pinot Noir Tasting Notes:
Bursting with a complex medley of ripe fruit aromas of Bing cherry, red currant and blackberry that dances with baking spice and dried earth notes. Ripe and lush on entry, the midpalate expresses the primary red fruit but evolves into complex flavors wrapped in a fine silky layer of sweet vanilla. Youthful tannins are supple and linger with a burst of late summer strawberry notes.
