If you’ve paged through a Wine Spectator or any other major US wine publication anytime over the last 19 years, you’ve likely read about Schrader, as it’s impossible to overlook their twenty-seven perfect 100 point scores. When discussing the upper echelon of wines produced in Napa Valley, they’re always at the top of the list… Their Cabernets are among the best in the world and you’re paying for some of the best blocks when buying the To-Kalon and other renowned Vineyards, and it should come as no surprise that these wines fetch around $500/btl.  What many people don’t know is that Schrader produces a second wine under the Double Diamond label.  After a three-year hiatus, the wine came back by popular demand last year with their 2016 vintage, and it quickly became one of the most requested Cabs in our shop. And even better, the wine now bears Oakville origins, and at under $100/btl, this simply can’t be beat.

This stunning Oakville Cabernet was crafted by Thomas Brown, who’s absolutely at the top of his game and is one of the dominating forces in Cabernet Sauvignon…  He made history as the first American winemaker to receive a perfect 100 Point score from the Wine Spectator, and he’s also the winemaker at Revana, Maybach, Gemstone and Outpost to name a few.  At under $100/btl this pedigreed Cab deserves a spot in your cellar, and your table…

Winery Notes: “The 2017 Vintage of Double Diamond opens with black and blue fruits balanced by a light oak spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and rich with a nice backbone of acidity. With a big, bold fruit character and fine-grained tannins, this wine is ready to enjoy upon release yet will mellow nicely for the next five years.”
