2017 PHARAOHMOANS PASO ROBLES SYRAH

$95.00

2017 PharaohMoans Syrah, Paso Robles – Huge Score From Wine Critic Jeb Dunnuck, “All Syrah brought up in 60% new barrels, the 2017 Syrah Westside offers a thrilling bouquet of black (and some blue) fruits, bay leaf, bacon fat, chocolate, and spring flowers. With a Côte-Rôtie like meatiness and gamey, floral character, medium to full body, no hard edges, and fine tannins, it’s another remarkable effort from this estate. Drink it any time over the coming decade or more.”  JEB DUNNUCK 97 POINTS

2017 PHARAOHMOANS PASO ROBLES SYRAH

When the right team is challenged to produce the best example of any given varietal in the New World, and they have both the means and vision to accomplish it, it’s something to behold.  PharaohMoans is a project by Amuse Bouche owner John Schwartz and Chef Bryan Ogden, recipient of a James Beard Award.  John’s name may be familiar from Amuse Bouche, Vin Perdu, and Coup de Foudre, and he clearly has an eye for exceptional talent, and the proven ability to create brands that compete with the best in the world.

John and Bryan teamed up with Guillaume Fabre to bring their dream to reality.  Guillaume is a gifted winemaker that began making wine in the South of France and Bordeaux, and then spent years working closely with Michel Roland’s consulting company.  From there, Guillaume came to California to L’Aventure Winery… one of the top producers in Paso Robles.

The last piece to the puzzle was the vineyard, and they found it in Western Paso Robles where the soils are rich in limestone and calcareous materials.  The wine was aged in Tarransaud, Saury and L’Ermite oak barrels, and now just recently released, it already has a near perfect 97 Point score.  If you’re looking for one of the best Syrah’s in the New World, this one’s for you…
