2017 ORIN SWIFT PAPILLON PROPRIETARY RED

Robert Louis Stevenson wrote that wine is bottled poetry, and throughout the years the Orin Swift brand has created a love affair with consumers that would certainly be poem-worthy.  Their flagship Papillon Blend is written from all five of Bordeaux’s most noble varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petite Verdot and Malbec, and it was constructed from some of Napa Valley’s most iconic Appellations.

Penned from carefully chosen sites spread throughout various regions in Napa Valley, the 2017 Papillon is deep, rich and inky, and on the palate the wine is loaded with ripe berries, currants, black chocolates and liquid floral.  The only thing bigger than the massive bottle, is the wine inside, which is made in a full-throttle, pedal to the metal style that leaves a lasting impression.

Spending 15 months of oak barrels, the 2017 is showing great right out of the gate. It’s made in a style that people love and it’s  no surprise that the previous five consecutive vintages have earned stellar 92-95 point scores from Robert Parker’s the Wine Advocate.
