Over the years, Diamond Mountain Cabernet has been a staple for the James Joseph brand by providing vividly distinct flavors and characteristics that are a direct result of the rich volcanic terroir.  In 2017, the Kathryn’s Reserve Cabernet was sourced almost exclusively from a secret vineyard on Diamond Mountain that can’t be named due to a non-disclosure agreement.  But one taste is all you’ll need to know… It was born from 3 separate clones of Cabernet Sauvignon and the newly released 2017 rocks you right down to the core with a spectacular display of intense black raspberry, graphite, liquid violets and coffee.  Those of you who tasted any of the previous vintages of James Joseph, know exactly what to expect… $100/btl quality at a price that’s an epic value..

In the glass the 2017 draws you in with a dramatic, alluring perfume, stacked with wild cherries, ripe blackberries, cassis and shaved chocolates. The wine was authored by Grant Long Jr., winemaker at Witchery, Steps and Aonair and it was kept for 22 months in oak before bottling.  With a total production of just 4 barrels (roughly 100 cases), I wouldn’t hesitate to secure yours.

Tasting Notes: “An intriguing bouquet of crushed blackberries, black cherries, ground espresso and baker’s chocolate.  On the palate, the wine is opulent, powerful and concentrated, with wave after wave of black plum, mixed berry cobbler, cocoa dusted chocolates, green tea and tobacco, all interwoven and dazzling your palate.  The rich, mouth-watering structure is complimented by fine grained tannins which carry it through to a long, supple, velvety finish.  This wine can be enjoyed upon release or cellared for 12+ years.”
