2016 VINEYARD 36 THIRTY SIX CABERNET SAUVIGNON NAPA VALLEY

$85.00

When it comes to Napa Valley’s greatest Cabernet Vineyards that are capable of producing world-class wines and 100 Point scores, Andy Beckstoffer’s Georges III in Rutherford is high on the list. The only problem is the average retail price of GIII Cabernets is around $150/btl.  So how do you get one for under $100? If you follow my email recommendations, we’ve got you covered VIPs… Vineyard 36 sources 100% of their Cabernet for their 2016 Napa Valley Cab from Beckstoffer George III Vineyard, then they blend it with a dash of Merlot from Oak Knoll.  The 2016 Beckstoffer GIII Cabernet Sauvignon Thirty Six retails at $85 and is one of the best Cabs under $100. At this VIP price, I highly and strongly recommend at least case.

Description

This 2016 “Beckstoffer GIII” Cabernet Sauvignon Thirty Six was made at Vineyard 29, which is one of Napa Valley’s most innovative and state-of-the-art wineries with everything from gravity flow tanks to an optical sorter that can be programmed algorithmically…  It was crafted by Winemaker Keith Emerson who also makes Vineyard 29’s super-high-scoring Cabernets.  A wine of this quality and caliber does not come around often, even factoring in the quantity of wine we taste every week. I highly recommend grabbing what you can for your cellar, before this one disappears…

2016 VINEYARD 36 THIRTY SIX CABERNET SAUVIGNON NAPA VALLEY

Tasting Notes: “The nose on this precisely sculpted cabernet starts with mesmerizing red currants, crushed black cherries, subdued fresh green herbs, hints of cinnamon, sweet vanilla spice and a touch of wet clay.  The penetrating palate thrusts forward supple, sweet cherries, ripe black fruits and balanced yet slightly gripping tannins along with subtle cigar box and pencil lead characteristics.  The finish is statuesque, focused and long with beautifully integrated structure.  Bet you can’t take only one sip…” 96 Points Kevin M. Vogt, Master Sommelier

Winery Notes: “Cassis, Black currant, spice (cinnamon) on the nose; chewy mid-palate tannins with ripe black fruits, cedar and graphite; well structured with a firm acid backbone and bright finish. ”
