Description
2016 VINEYARD 29 CRU BEST NAPA CABERNET SAUVIGNON: The 2016 Cru Cabernet was thoughtfully constructed from fourteen vineyards, with the core being the vineyards surrounding the winery’s Estate in Saint Helena. It was guided from grape to bottle by talented winemaker Keith Emerson who’s made the wine since the inaugural vintage in 2005. He also worked alongside legendary winemaker Philippe Melka on the winery’s high-scoring Estate wines through 2017, while Phillippe was consulting winemaker. The 2016 is incredibly deep and hedonistic, with a remarkable velvety, satin feel and layers of complexity. At $60, this wine is a steal in terms of the quality of what’s inside the bottle…
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: “Our 2016 Cru Cabernet Sauvignon’s gorgeous aromatic profile opens with chocolate-covered blueberries and warm raspberry cobbler. Juicy blue and black fruits are joined by notes of violets and mocha as they spread across the palate, where great acidity and weight extend well into the back palate, finishing with fine-grained, silky tannin texture and a farewell kiss of cocoa. Blend: 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 5% Petite Verdot, 3% Malbec, and 2% Cabernet Franc.”
From Vinous, “Vineyard 29’s Cabernet Sauvignon Cru is once again a fabulous wine in its peer group. An infusion of black cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather and spice runs through this sumptuous, racy Cabernet. Seven vineyards in St. Helena form the core of a bold, racy Cabernet that punches above its weight.“ 92 Points
From Robert Parker Wine Advocate, “Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Cru delivers a wonderfully plumy, baked cherry and mulberry-laced nose with hints of cinnamon, cloves, bay leaves and chocolate box. Medium to full-bodied, it offers a great intensity of ripe black fruit and spicy layers, with a grainy backbone and great freshness, finishing long.” ROBERT PARKER WINE ADVOCATE 92+ POINTS
