Tasting Notes: “This robust 2016 Rapp Ranch Napa Valley Reserve red blend is uniquely driven by the Coombsville AVA terroir. Composed mostly by the uncommon varietal Petit Verdot, with Cabernet Sauvignon being the dominant second varietal showcased in the blend. Enticing aromas of sweet pipe tobacco, brown sugar and orange spice invite you to take a sip. A boldly structured palate provides flavors of boysenberry, raspberry, tons of blackberries, vanilla, cardamom, and plum. This BIG, Luscious, and showy wine has voluptuous tannins from start to the long lingering finish.”
2016 RAPP RANCH CUTTERS RESERVE PROPRIETARY RED, COOMBSVILLE NAPA VALLEY
The Shadybrook Estate Winery at RAPP RANCH combines boutique wines of the highest order with a historice ranch estate in the foothills of Coombsville Napa Valley. Recently nominated “Boutique Winery of the Year”, by Napa Valley Life Magazine, and also “Best Local Winemaker” … please believe me when I say we only have a limited amount of time to get as much of this 2016 Cutters Reserve before the rest of the world finds out… a hidden gem, and under-the-radar, this is my highest recommended discovery of 2019-2020, and I don’t want you to miss it.
With an Ultra-Boutique production of only 240 cases made, I highly recommend adding a case to your collection if you enjoy the Upper Echelon wines of Napa Valley. This Reserve is loaded with Ripe Fruit, it’s Super-Rich and it drinks like a serious $200-$300 bottle. Hand-crafted primarily with the top two most expensive Varietals per ton in Napa Valley: Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Opulence meets elegance with a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and a dash of Merlot. An absolutely gorgeous wine that delivers a balance of robust elegance with a seamless mouthfeel, and I’m so thrilled to share this with you… Cheers! Edward
THE RAPP RANCH STORY: The property now known as Shadybrook Estate Winery at Rapp Ranch has undergone several remarkable transformations. The history of Rapp Ranch is rich in horses. Originally known as the premier breeding & training grounds for quarter horses in the Napa Valley, this property located in the heart of Coombsville, became world renown throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Utilizing a variety of barns, riding arenas and outdoor spaces, Rapp Ranch produced some of the top award winning international competitors. Continuing on to present day, the name Rapp Ranch has became synonymous with outstanding quality.
The property eventually sold to a Dream Seeker who removed some of the horse facilities and planted 12 of the 25 acres of ultra premium Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley grapes. This same owner, being far more interested in the wine business than horses, undertook building a winery facility, a commercial kitchen, an indoor tasting room, and outdoor tasting patio. Cheers to Dream Seekers! When the opportunity presented itself, the Alkossers purchased the property in February 2016. Thoroughly enchanted by the beauty and significance of this place, they saw the potential in combining the history of the horse ranch, the premium vineyards and the state-of- the-art winery into the ultimate destination for wine connoisseurs and adventuring travelers. They also host some Killer events!
