Description
2016 NICKEL & NICKEL C.C. RANCH CABERNET SAUVIGNON (RUTHERFORD)
Winery Notes: “The 2016 CC Ranch Cabernet opens with a harmonious blend of delicate floral and potpourri notes alongside aromas of ripe cherry, plum, and dried herbs. The entry is bright and lively, loaded with spicy red berry flavors and warm, seductive notes of tobacco leaf. The bright, lingering finish is both refreshing and youthful, while firm tannins suggest the wine will only grow more nuanced with extended aging.”
Generous… Moving… Deeply Enchanting… These are all fitting descriptors for Nickel & Nickel’s C.C. Ranch Cabernet from Napa Valley’s prized Rutherford AVA. With no expense spared along with attention to every minute detail combined with access to some of Napa Valley’s best vineyard sources, Nickel & Nickel is producing a bevy of classic Cabernet Sauvignons that are full of charm and worth seeking out.
VINEYARD DESCRIPTION:
C.C. Ranch is planted in Rutherford, along the slope of a knoll west of the Silverado Trail. The vineyard grows classic Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon on well-drained, gravelly loam soil and receives a variety of exposures, depending on the block and location. The vines are well balanced and the canopy is opened up to give good light exposure. Nickel & Nickel produces wine from 15 select acres of this 115-acre vineyard.
HARVEST NOTES:
The 2016 growing season proceeded as usual for Napa Valley with a nice spring that led to a warm summer. Budbreak was about five days later than last year and this trend continued throughout the season. Slightly cooler weather in May lengthened the bloom window but warm summer days in June and July helped the vines catch up to normal. The crop looked good with clusters that had a nice leaf coverage allowing for speckled light. August brought both cool and hot weather, so we kept a close eye on each block.
