2016 LETO CELLARS MT VEEDER CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Napa Valley is home to an untold number of ridiculously high quality, boutique wines that often disappear to winery mailing lists and get consumed at local restaurants. When these wineries have a little inventory leftover, finding it becomes a matter of who you know. When we discover a brilliant example with top-level winemaking and exceptional fruit sources, we work on building relationships to gain access to those leftover cases. Leto Cellars is a grand example, and the wines are made by Brad Warner who spent nearly 30 years at Mondavi, where he worked his way up to Vice President of production. Brad took everything he’s learned in winemaking, and multiplied it by the passion he has for his own brand.
Leto’s 2016 checks in at 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from a single vineyard perched at 1,100 feet elevation on Mount Veeder. Brad choose this site for the incredible volcanic soils, and vines that yield small, powerful berries with intense flavor. Mt Veeder is also the coolest Mountain in Napa which allows the grapes to have a longer hang-time so they can develop into something majestic. With a production of only 344 cases, you might want to keep this one secret, at least until you get your case.
