Founded in 1895, Larkmead is one of the oldest family-owned wineries in Napa Valley, and it’s the geology of what’s beneath their vines that truly makes their Estate vineyards undeniably special. Centuries of alluvial flow have resulted in the accumulation of ancient riverbed gravel, clay, and loam, forming the perfect canvas to cultivate grapes in. Winemaker Dan Petroski ferments grapes from these special vineyards in small lots that are broken up by clonal selection and soil type. He’s then able to identify and blend the absolute best wine possible from each vintage.
