2016 JON NATHANIEL BODACIOUS PROPRIETARY RED, NAPA VALLEY

$60.00

Named for the iconic rodeo bull, Bodacious, who was known as The World’s Most Dangerous Bull, the wine Bodacious is created in a larger-than-life, full-bodied, and expressive style that lives up to its name. This is a project by John Komes and his son Nat. John founded Flora Springs winery in 1978, and after decades of success making larger-production wines, he and Nat created the Jon Nathaniel label to focus on limited production Estate wines.  For Bodacious, they hand-select fruit from their Estate Vineyards in Oakville, and Rutherford and Napa Valley to produce about 400 cases.

Making a grand entrance from  the 2016 vintage that Wine Spectator Magazine touts as their highest rated for Napa since 1997, the 2016 Bodacious checks in at roughly 50% Petit Verdot blended with Malbec and Syrah.  The unique combination of Bordeaux and Rhone Varietals fills your palate with finely detailed, complex red and black fruits.  This Napa Valley Red Wine was hosted for 19 months in French oak barrels and now with a couple years in the bottle it’s putting on a great show.

Winery Notes: “This bold red blend shows exuberant, lush fruit – juicy red cherry, black raspberry and cassis – along with rich notes of espresso, cola and dusty cocoa. The wine is full-bodied and plush with bright acidity and a solid backbone. The tannins are smooth and long lasting. Despite its namesake, our 2016 Bodacious is friendly and approachable, ideal for enjoying today with friends and family.”

2016 Bodacious Varietal Blend: 53% Petit Verdot, 26% Malbec, 21% Syrah
