2016 EHLERS ESTATE PORTRAIT PROPRIETARY RED ST. HELENA NAPA VALLEY

$65.00

Ehlers Estate in St. Helena is a historic winegrowing property initially established in the mid-1800s at Napa Valley’s narrowest point, where constant airflow brings morning fog and moderating sea breezes, ensuring a slow and even ripening. The estate’s old-world style layout, where the farthest point of the property is just 600 yards from the centrally located winery, is rare in California, naturally encouraging an increased focus on quality.

Ehlers’s vineyard, situated on 42 contiguous acres, is divided into five primary blocks defined by their unique soil types and 25 sub-blocks with varying combinations of clones and rootstocks, offering a remarkable diversity in their fruit. Designed to represent “the perfect picture” of the unique terroir of this classical estate, the 2016 Portrait is firm and confident, harmoniously displaying the vineyards and vintage’s most remarkable characteristics.

2016 EHLERS ESTATE PORTRAIT PROPRIETARY RED ST. HELENA NAPA VALLEY

Ehlers Estate Winery Tasting Notes: “This wine represents our Estate as a perfect picture of our vineyard and its soil diversity. That is why we call it Portrait! Each vintage we strive to capture the essence of the diverse soils, varietals, and the unique terroir of Ehlers Estate. With a medium to full body and dark red color, it delivers concentrated aromas of ripe red fruit, raspberries, cherries, cassis, and smoky notes. We use only 40% new French oak, allowing the fruit to shine in the blend. Nice structured acidity; the mouth is dense with vibrant and complex flavors of red berries, smoky spices, and dried herbs. This wine has a long finish with dense silky tannins.”
