2016 ANDERSON’S CONN VALLEY VINEYARDS ESTATE RESERVE CABERNET SAUVIGNON

$79.00

Todd Anderson’s Ghost Horse project would highlight any conversation about California Cult Wines, with barrels fetching up to a million dollars for roughly 25 cases of wine.  Todd also produces Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards wines, and his 2016 Estate Reserve Cab comes from his Vineyard located at the base of Howell Mountain on the Southern side.  It’s planted to several cult clones including, Bonny’s Vineyard which was made famous by Silver Oak in the 1980’s, Eisele which is distinguished by Araujo Estate, and clone 337, which is used by icons like Schrader for producing world-class wine.  Combine all three clones and others, along with Todd’s passion and proven winemaking ability, and the results are absolutely stunning in this Reserve Cab.

Emerging from Napa Valley’s highest rated vintage since 1997, and one the Wine Spectator rated the overall vintage for Napa Cabernet at 98 points, Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards Estate Reserve shows all of the best qualities from the vintage, with a concentrated center core and intense fruit.  The 2016 checks in at 98% Cabernet Sauvignon that’s heightened with 2% Petit Verdot.  It was housed for 21 months in French oak barrels, and now with just over a year in the bottle it’s really starting to shine. With two 94 Point scores, I wouldn’t wait too long to secure yours.

2016 ANDERSON’S CONN VALLEY VINEYARDS ESTATE RESERVE CABERNET SAUVIGNON

From VINOUS: “… once again terrific. Powerful, vertical and structured, with striking savory top notes, the Reserve has a lot to offer. I would prefer to cellar it for a few years to allow the tannins to soften a bit. Sage, lavender, tobacco, menthol, licorice, earthiness and blackberry are very nicely delineated. Once again, the Reserve is quite obviously the reference-point wine here.” GALLONI 94 POINTS

From WINE ADVOCATE: “Deep purple-black in color, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve is a little closed to begin, slowly revealing fresh blackberries, blackcurrants and black plums notes with touches of eucalypt, cinnamon stick, roses and fertile soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-filling black fruits with plenty of spicy accents and a pleasantly chewy finish.” PARKER 94 POINTS
