2015 PARUSSO BAROLO

$47.00

It’s no secret that in great vintages, even the smaller, lesser-known producers can excel, and make outstanding wines.  But what happens when a one of the top producers in Piedmont encounters a blockbuster vintage?  The wines are indescribably brilliant, and Parusso’s 95 Point 2015 Barolo is a shinning example.

Parusso’s 2015 Barolo combines superior Nebbiolo grapes from four iconic vineyards including Mariondino, Mosconi, Le Coste and Bussia.  The winery also makes single vineyard Barolos from each of these sites that retail for around $70 to $100/btl.  At $47, the blend of these world-class vineyards is as Vinous writes, “a huge overachiever in its peer group.”

In reference to the 2015 vintage in Piedmont, James Suckling, wrote that the “full capability of the nebbiolo grape’s expressive nature is alive in Barolo 2015.” Parusso’s 2015 is absolute proof, and the wine opens up to enchanting aromas of dark plump, crushed red berries, white truffle, charcuterie and dried rose.

What I love most about Parusso Barolo is that it never fails to sweep me off of my feet when I taste it, and it’s rare to get that feeling at under fifty bucks…
