Description
I get excited anytime I see a wine from Rosella’s Vineyard, when perusing a restaurant wine list. The vineyard always stands-out for profound floral qualities, textures and intense flavors which make it one of the true crown-jewels of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. After all, the vineyard was planted by Gary Franscioni one of California’s most distinguished growers who also owns the iconic Garys’ and Sierra Mar Vineyards, and is partners in the Pisoni and Soberanes vineyards as well. Wineries like Roar, Kosta Browne and Loring all make single vineyard Pinots from it, and Matias perfectly articulates the best qualities of the vineyard.
Composed by accomplished winemaker Dan Fitzgerald, who got his start by working at Williams-Selyem, Matias has become one of our most loved and request Pinots in the shop. They’re micro-produced and artisan made in every way imaginable, and with just 92 cases produced, our only complaint is that there’s never enough to satisfy the growing demand. I already got my case, don’t hesitate to secure yours.
“ROSELLA’S VINEYARD”
The 50-acre Rosella’s Vineyard rests along the benchlands of the Santa Lucia Mountain Range. Owners Gary and Rosella Franscioni planted the vineyard in 1996 using the Pisoni clone from La Tâche and the Dijon “777” clone.
