When a winery has the ability to hand-select fruit from vineyards spanning the entire reach of Napa Valley, they’re often able to complete a more complex and layered blend than if they were confined to just one vineyard.  As one of Napa Valley’s preeminent farming families, Laird is able to do just that. Their wines are always rock-solid, and in a vintage like 2015 where yields were small and quality was high, they made one of their greatest blends of all time.

* The 2015 LAIRD Jillian’s Blend is definitely one of the highest quality Bordeaux Style Blends coming out of Napa Valley in this price range, and would go head to head with great Napa Valley wines at double the price point; the definition of Exemplary and Highly Case-Worthy.

The 2015 Laird Jillian’s Blend was crafted Winemaker Brian Mox, whom previously consulted for Lewis and Etude completed the blend with Syrah from Carneros, Merlot from Big Ranch, and Malbec and Petit Verdot from Flat Rock Ranch in Yountville.  The final blend deliciously proves that the sum of this winemaker’s selection is greater than its parts. The 2015 was built around a core of is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon that was primarily sourced from the winery’s Mast Ranch Vineyard in Yountville. Their single-vineyard Mast Ranch Cab sells for $80/btl… If you are seeking the Best Red Wine blend that Napa Valley has to offer, this is it.

Developing for 22 months in oak, the 2015 oozes with intense dark fruits, black chocolates, blackberry, cassis and spices.  Commanding a presence from one of the valley’s best vintages, one that the Wine Spectator describes as “Short crop delivered big quality surprise; rich, supple and deeply colored”, Laird’s new Jillian’s Blend is exemplary.

From The Wine Spectator, “A ripe and lush style, with waves of cassis, plum sauce and açaí berry rolling through, coated with mocha and sweet spice notes and leading to a very polished finish. For the hedonist crowd. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2024…” Wine Spectator 92 Points

Our Tasting Notes: “Deep inky Purple/Violet color; Captivating aromatics of dark red fruits, vanilla, candied plumb, blackberries and a hint of toasted oak. Rich flavors follow through with dark berries, vanilla and a nice hint of cocoa, roasted espresso, caramelized plums, and black raspberry gives way to a silky smooth finish. This impressive Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon & Bordeaux Style Blend is drinking extremely well now, and will continue to improve for at least 5-7 years” Edward | CaliHiWines 96 POINTS
