2015 JOSEPH JEWELL RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY PINOT NOIR

$40.00

We’ve introduced some unbelievable values this year, but there’s still just one that I can honestly say is the best wine that I’ve ever tasted in this VIP Price range. Every time I taste it, I’m perplexed that a wine that we can offer at this modest price can taste like one that costs more than double. The 2015 combines fruit from Hallberg, Floodgate and Bucher Vineyards and Williams-Selyem and Gary Farrell fans likely recognize these sites as being spectacular. The 2015 makes a gorgeous and elegant entrance onto your palate with stunning balance, detail, intensity, and length, and it perfectly portrays everything that I’m exited about in cool climate California Pinot Noir.

This Pinot has been lingering on my mind since I first tasted it, and in equal detail are the mineral-laced raspberries, red cherries, black tea, wild rose and touches of violets that are etched in my memory. The 2015 was elevated for 11 months in Francois Freres, Ermitage and Rousseau barrels, and has blossomed over the last 3 years in the bottle. If you love Pinot Noir, and better yet, even if you don’t… try a case of this, and I think you’ll become and instant fan.

2015 JOSEPH JEWELL RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY PINOT NOIR

Top Wines of 2019 Number 3

Tasting Notes, “My favorite Pinot Noir brand that I’ve discovered in the last few years, the Joseph Jewell Russian River Valley Pinot Noir always over-delivers. The elegant nose is seamless with bright cherries, mixed berries, flowers and spice. Then comes the wonderfully balanced, nuanced palate which begins with red cherries, crushed raspberries and plum skin, then balanced by dried rose petal, subtle spices and a touch of oak. The mouth quenching finish brings lingering flavors, lasting for over a minute, then leaving your palate begging for another sip.”
95 Points, Kevin M Vogt, Master Sommelier

Edward’s Extended Tasting Notes: Wow! What a wine, now that’s a Pinot!  Russian River Valley (aka RRV) is one of my favorite regions for Pinot Noir because it is known for Pinots that are more full-bodied, deeper and plush; and this Pinot is deeply layered with fruit, yet balanced with spice, and nearly perfect acidity creates a nice weight on the palate… it’s absolutely delicious! When I taste a wine this good for this price, I automatically think “the Best Wine for Entertaining”. Why? Well, you can pour this beautiful red wine for any relative, any guest, at any event, and they will become instant fans. Simply Sip and enjoy, or you can pair it with virtually any food on Earth… Versatile enough to throw an ice cube in for your Aunt or your Mother, and Sophisticated enough for the Advocates and Enthusiasts 🙂 It’s everything we love about Pinot and then some… You can go through a few bottles, and you won’t break the bank.  Trust me, Get a case, pop a bottle, and then grab 3-5 more cases ASAP! Because it’s THAT good, and it’s won’t last much longer – If you are constantly looking for the best red wine under 30 to entertain with, or the best red wine for health, this is it. I noticed on the second bottle, the cork was just covered in purple goo, and I just ruined another White Polo shirt over the weekend… This could be my top Pinot Noir of 2019, I don’t know just yet, but I’ll let you know after I enjoy my 5th case this year 🙂 I’m getting as much as I can fit into my packed wine room. So when my sisters visit again soon, I’m stocked-up and ready. Let’s get back to the juice! Cheers! Ed

Joseph Jewell Wines: “We source exceptional fruit from independently owned vineyard properties in Sonoma and Humboldt counties, selecting sites with unique soil profiles and weather conditions. As part of our commitment to the future, we seek out growers who implement sustainable farming practices. Working closely with the property owners throughout the year allows us to monitor the grapes’ progress and cultivate fruit that delivers the distinctive character of the site. Our goal is a finished wine that celebrates the singularity of the vineyard from which it came—the optimal expression of place captured vintage after vintage.”
