2015 GRASSI “NAPA VALLEY” CABERNET SAUVIGNON

One of the most fascinating facts about wine is that it’s alive and always changing.  Wine has the powerful ability to stir emotions from deep within, and throughout its life cycle, that ability becomes greater as the wine progresses towards its peak of drinkability.  A single year of life inside the bottle can be the difference between a “gorgeous” 93 Point Cab that will satisfy just about anyone that tastes it, and a wine that’s so outrageously hedonistic, and flirting with perfection that it rocks you right down to your core… When I taste a wine like that, the 100 point scale doesn’t seem large enough to hold it.  Grassi’s 2015 Estate Cabernet is that wine and when reviewed a year ago it was another “gorgeous” 93 Point Cab, but when our panel tasted it recently it was one of the absolute best Cabs that we’ve tasted this year.

The 2015 was authored by Robbie Meyer, whose experience includes 5 vintages at the iconic Peter Michael Winery, as well as time at Lewis Cellars and Del Dotto. It emanates from Grassi’s Estate Vineyard located on Soda Canyon Road, which is positioned about a mile South of the Stag’s Leap District, and rests just below the Atlas Peak AVA. This wine has absolutely everything I look for in a top-tier Napa Valley Cabernet…
