2015 DAVID ARTHUR “MERITAGGIO” NAPA VALLEY 95 POINTS
In the Wine Industry and during tastings we have often referred to James Suckling as a benchmark for his scrutinizing ratings; Suckling is also one of the most experienced critics of vintage cigars; smoke em if you got em … this wine is very special to be rated 95 Points by JS and calling it “ Best sangiovese ever from Napa“. I Highly recommend at least a 6-pack for your collection, and after you crack open your first bottle, you’ll want more! Cheers! Ed
Emerging from the Eastern ridge of Pritchard Hill, where the iron-rich, volcanic, red soils produce intensely flavored berries that are are the reason so many wine lovers consider Pritchard Hill to be the most elite sub-region in the Napa Valley. The area has been hailed by some as Napa’s Grand Cru, and David Arthur’s Cabernets rank among some of the greatest in the Valley. The winery also produces a delicious, bistro-styled Red Blend that comes laden with sultry aromas of juicy dark cherries, candied plum, crushed violets and chocolaty undertones. The 2015 checks in at 44% Sangiovese and is powered by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. At less than $60, David Arthur’s Meritaggio delivers serious bang for your buck.
Brought to life by talented winemaker Nile Zacherle, whose experience includes winemaking in Australia and Bordeaux, as well as Napa Valley wineries Barnett and Chateau Montelena. David Arthur’s 2015 Meritaggio is simply outstanding. The winery has a terrific track record which spans more than 3 decades, crafting high-scoring and memorable wines. I strongly recommend adding a case of this fun-filled blend to your cellar. With an incredible 94-95 Point Score from James Suckling, the 2015 vintage may not be available for long.
