RUTHERFORD DUST and OAKVILLE BACKBONE…
Jaw-Dropping and Perfectly seamless: 99PTS

Tasting Notes from CaliHiWines: “Opulence, Pristine Elegance and Balance: A superb combination of RUTHERFORD DUST and OAKVILLE BACKBONE, this wine is perfectly seamless. Front to back, side to side, each sip is just jaw-dropping with fruit, spice, everything nice that we crave in Napa Cab. It should be earmarked at $100-$150 per bottle. Give a couple more years in the Cellar Library, and it will be. Each swirl you’ll discover a new enjoyment, full glasses will vanish, and bottles will go fast. I believe this is our best-ever Cabernet we have featured from Cornerstone, especially at this price… Kari Auringer’s style really outshines in this specific Cab: there’s just a feminine touch of finesse that reminds me a lot of Celia Welch here, and this is why Scarecrow receives perfect scores almost every vintage. Sometimes a wine is master-crafted in such a perfect blend that there is not a single hard edge to be found… and humbly, and graciously let me be the first to say THIS IS A PERFECT WINE. Thank you Kari and Cheers! to Cornerstone!! Wow.” CaliHiWines, Edward Stephanick 99 POINTS

Description

2015 CORNERSTONE BENCHLANDS NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON

A masterful blend of fruit sourced from prized vineyards, this wine performs against Napa classic Cabs made in the same regions for twice the price.  It’s a wine that has every component necessary to be truly outstanding, and it begins with winemaker Kari Auringer who worked under Celia Welch at Cornerstone as well as contributing to the fame of some of the Napa Valley’s most luminous names including Scarecrow, Keever, Kelly Fleming, and Corra to name a few.  Adding another level of greatness to the wine is winemaker Charles Thomas who has more than 30 years winemaking experience crafting Robert Mondavi’s Reserve Cabernets, the first twelve vintages of OPUS ONE, or his work at Cardinale, Lokoya, Verité and Rudd.  And then there’s the vineyards…

Cornerstone’s 2015 Benchlands Cabernet is built around a core of Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from Oakville and Rutherford.  The 2015 is made in a rich, opulent style with remarkable intensity and stunning length.  On the palate, the wine is rich and elegant with wonderful energy, and flavors that unwind methodically across your palate.

2015 CORNERSTONE BENCHLANDS NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Tasting Notes: “The 2015 Cornerstone Benchlands Cabernet Sauvignon is another beautiful rendition, picking up right where the 2014 left off.  The elegant, sultry nose begins with captivating ripe blackberries, toasty oak and black olives, followed by hints of beechnut gum, lavender and rock dust.  The palate starts with a pristine elegance and balance, paralleling the focused flavors of black cherries, red currants and black tea, then followed by beautifully integrated, toasty, sweet vanilla spice.  The orchestrated finish lingers with elegant acidity, dusty fruit tannins and a wonderful freshness.  Drink now, or drink later, but I’m  going back for a second glass now...”
