2014 WM HARRISON SIMPATICO, RUTHERFORD ESTATE

$40.00 $36.00

Of all of the unique terroirs in Napa Valley, Rutherford is one of the most distinctly recognizable for it’s mineral-laced cherry fruit, intense red currants, superior elegance and of course classic Rutherford dusty tannins. Paragons Quintessa, BV and Scarecrow all set a precedence for quality in Rutherford.  The best Rutherford Reds will fuse elegance, complexity and dusty tannins in a way that makes you want to enjoy them on a very regular basis.  Of course with an average retail price of over $100 per bottle for Rutherford Cabernet Blends, it can be tough to find one at a modest price.  William Harrison is a family owned winery in Rutherford that produces classically styled Bordeaux varietals with unparalleled value.

The winery is strategically located on the Eastern side of Rutherford where the well-drained soils have significantly more volcanic deposits.  In 2014, they combined a core of Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot to add layers to the round, full mouthfeel.  Their consulting winemaker is Phillip Titus, who’s been with Chappellet for nearly 30 years, where he’s produced some of the most sought after wines in California.  If you’re looking for a wine with a powerful sense of place, remarkable balance and uncanny value, this one should top the list…

Description

2014 WM HARRISON SIMPATICO, RUTHERFORD ESTATE

Tasting Notes, Each vintage, our estate’s second wine “Simpatico” is comprised of barrels that remain after our Rutherford Red and varietal blends are created. It gives our restaurant partners an opportunity to showcase a true Meritage from a premier AVA, at a price befitting a BTG list. In the 2014, aromas and flavors consist of ripe Bing cherry and raspberry compote, with notes of cinnamon and cardamom spice. It is a medium-bodied and mildly tannic wine, ideal for short-term aging, or immediate enjoyment.”
