2014 ELYSE MORISOLI VINEYARD CABERNET SAUVIGNON

$85.00

The Morisoli Vineyard located in the center of the Rutherford bench projects the most idyllic expression of Rutherford terroir and is one of the area’s best.  The oldest part of the vineyard was planted in the 1880’s, and over the years its fruit has graced the wines of BV’s flagship Georges de Latour Cabernet, Trujillo, V. Sattui, Sequoia Grove, Orin Swift Mercury Head and the list goes on… Elyse recognized the quality of the site early on, and they’ve produced their flagship single-vineyard Morisoli Cabernet for more than 25 consecutive vintages.  The wine is remarkably deep with a solid build, and on the palate, perfectly ripe berries unwind methodically with penetrating complexity, elegance and length.

For three decades, Elyse Winery in Yountville has built a reputation for producing exceptional value wines with enormous character.  Their focus has been on crafting single-vineyard wines with sense of place, sourced from a bevy of Napa Valley’s most celebrated vineyards.  Their top wine is their Morisoli Vineyard Cabernet, and the vineyard itself is surrounded by icons Staglin, Inglenook, Scarecrow and Joseph Phelps Banca Dorada.  If you’re looking for a wine with a powerful sense of place, remarkable balance, and uncanny value, this one should top the list…

Master Sommelier Tasting Notes: “Every wine tells a story, and the Elyse Morisoli Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 tells a story of power and elegance.  The powerfully focused red and black fruits seamlessly compliment each other. The red currants and bright cherries are strategically framed by the lush, ripe blackberries and black plum.  Secondary characteristics of cigar box, cocoa powder and pepper spice only add to the complexity.  The penetrating fruit combined with satiny tannins will allow this to drink beautifully now through 2035.”
