2014 ANTHEM MOUNT VEEDER ESTATE CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Master Sommelier Tasting Notes: “This blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot, and 1% Merlot, perfectly balances the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon from Anthem, and reveals a tantalizing blend of power and elegance, beautifully showcasing both red and black fruits crushed blackberries, red currants, ripe blueberries, intermingled with purple flowers, a touch of sweet vanilla spice, wrapped in slightly dusty tannins. The palate is rich, but not overpowering, fleshy, without any flabbiness, with deeply penetrating flavors. While absolutely gorgeous now after a little time in the glass, this one promises another 16-20 years of decadent life.” Kevin Vogt 95 POINTS
Ed’s Notes: “We recently visited a restaurant where this exact wine and vintage was fetching $350 on the wine menu! Glad I brought my own. What I like about Mt. Veeder is the fresh and elegant undertones of each sip. I think some Napa Cabs are a little too big for food… my doctor says I can’t eat steak everyday anymore 🙂 and sometimes I want a wine to compliment a meal, and Mt Veeder is my go-to for pairing. I love this wine with garlic roasted chicken and root vegetables, and it was spot-on with a Caesar salad as well… after the meal it was lovely to sip, and watch the fireplace with chocolate covered strawberries, suggesting the acidity is perfect. Well crafted from a Master Winemaker, I highly recommend 6-bottles to cellar the next 15-years, and 6-bottles to enjoy now at your favorite restaurant. (case worthy) Cheers!”
