Description
Arising from a 5 acre vineyard in Alexander Valley that’s planted to nearly century old vines, this wine exhibits all the qualities that I look for in Old Vine Zinfandel. Rosenblum fans might also recognize this vineyard from single vineyard Zinfandels that they produced in the 1990’s. The Valdez family are some California’s most sought after wine growers, having farmed for Aubert, Kistler, Paul Hobbs and others, and their St Peter’s Church Zinfandel is simply one of the best Zins produced in California.

2013 VALDEZ “ST PETER’S CHURCH VINEYARD” ZINFANDEL
Master Sommelier Tasting Notes: “This impeccably balanced zinfandel flaunts energizing flavors and aromas of ripe black cherries, concentrated pomegranate, and crushed blackberries with hints of white rose petals, cocoa powder and pipe tobacco. The perfect balance shines through with an amazing brightness that elegantly supports the richly focused flavors. Simply stunning!” Kevin Vogt 94 POINTS
Ed’s Notes, “Driving from Carneros to Santa Rosa through Sonoma… on the side of the road, you’ll notice twisted, gnarly looking tree trunks… these are the old vines of Zinfandel! They are not attached to each other, and they produce tiny berries that are jam-packed with flavors of fruit and spice… deep and rich, concentrated deliciousness. Hand-crafted by Up and Coming Winemaker Elizabeth Valdez (as seen in photo above); Elizabeth has spent here entire life tending to these vines, and she knows the precise moment to Harvest and Crush… extracting the essence with precision, her superstar winemaking skills shine bright on this bottle! You heard it here first – Señorita Valdez is a Natural Born Superstar! Ándale pues! (loosely translated as You Go Girl!) If you are Fan of California Reds you gotta get a case of this one, and if you are a Fan of Old-Vine Zinfandel grab 2-3 cases (15-packs) because at this price Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s an unbelievable Case-Worthy discovery.”
