2013 GODSPEED MOUNT VEEDER CABERNET SAUVIGNON

$80.00

Just how good are the grapes from Godspeed Vineyard on Mount Veeder? For years, they sold fruit to Mayacamas, which is one of the best in the Valley.  It’s also been a source for Robert Craig’s iconic Mount Veeder Cab, and Ed Sbragia even makes a Godspeed Vineyard designated Cab which garners mid 90’s scores and trades for around $90/btl.  The winery saves the best blocks for their own project, and at $80 it’s ridiculously good.

Godspeed produces absolutely classic and true-to-form Mount Veeder Cabernet that’s stacked with concentrated black fruits and savory flavors that are characteristic of Mount Veeder terroir.  The vineyard rests at 1,500 feet in elevation and bears tiny clusters of concentrated fruit with regal qualities.

This wine spends 35 months in barrel and makes its entrance from one of the most celebrated vintages in the last decade, and one Robert Parker said might be the finest vintage he’s experienced over the last 37 years.  With 3 1/2 years in the bottle, this wine is absolutely rocking right now… If you enjoy super-deep, rich, yet supple Mountain Cabernets, I don’t think a single case will be enough of this one.

2013 GODSPEED MOUNT VEEDER CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Tasting Notes: The Godspeed Mount Veeder Cabernet 2013 begins with a gorgeous nose of red and black fruits and berries with white flowers, wet stone and dried herbs.  On the palate, it begins with red currants, blackberries, black plum along with a linear structure and penetrating focus.  The finish is long, powerful and elegant with satiny tannins and beautiful depth.  This one gets better and better with each successive sip.

94 Points, Kevin M. Vogt, Master Sommelier
