2013 BIG POUR NAPA VALLEY PROPRIETARY RED WINE
Kelly Flemming’s Vineyard is under the guidance of Mike Wolf, one of Napa Valley’s leading viticulture experts, whose past and present clients include Bond, Scarecrow, and Lewis. The twelve-acre vineyard separates into three blocks with varying elevations, soils, slopes, and exposures accentuated by viticultural techniques tailored to each block… Rebecca and Celia created the 2013 Big Pour around a core of 75% Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, accentuating the approachability with additions of Syrah, Malbec, and Petite Verdot, in part from Tom Farella’s renowned Coombsville Vineyard. Now with six years in the bottle, a Big Pour equals a good time.
Tasting Notes from Master Sommelier, “Living up to its name, the seductive Big Pour Red Wine 2013 is a concentrated, mouth-filling, opulent wine that by every definition is mouth-filling. It begins with a deep, sultry nose and palate showcasing black currants, muddled cherries, and ripe black plums, along with hints of cocoa powder and light vanilla spice. On the palate, it’s a curvaceous blockbuster now, but I can only imagine how edgy this wine would have been when it was young. Today, it’s found the perfect balance between power and elegance, tension and suppleness, tannins vs. fruit, and has enticing flavors that last very, very long. These qualities combine to form a bombshell that’s a voluptuous yet seamless beauty who likes to show off and approaches slutty, but has just enough restraint to drop one hand and hold her dress down when a gust of wind comes up. This one might have been too much to handle in its youth, but time has performed miracles, and it’s everything I’m looking for today.” KEVIN VOGT 96 POINTS
VIP Note: Celia Welch’s style is simply divine, and it’s worth mentioning the 2013 Scarecrow garnered a perfect 100 Point score from Robert Parker. Many believe the 2013 Vintage in Napa Valley was the best vintage ever in History…
