Caymus Vineyards has been among the top wineries in Napa for nearly five decades now (about 46 Years). Caymus Family Wines have deep roots that trace back to the Wagner family, who left San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake to farm in Rutherford, Napa Valley. By 1915 the Wager Family was producing bulk wines and during the 1940s they were known for their excellent grapes and home made wines.
One thing I love about Caymus and the Wagner Family is even until this very day in 2019, I guarantee there is a relative, perhaps a niece or nephew of Chuck Wagner pouring wines as you taste, because this is a True Family Business… The commercial winery, Caymus Vineyards, was founded in 1972 when the family decided to produce wine as a business. You may have heard of BELLE GLOS, she was one of the Co-Founders of Caymus. By the late 1980s Caymus Family wines were winning prestigious awards. Today the winery is run by Chuck Wagner, who was born and raised on the estate, and the wines are considered some of the valley’s finest and among the top wineries in Napa Valley. The Caymus estate includes more than 60 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon in Rutherford.
